Smoothies are the best way to sneak in some super healthy powerhouse ingredients.
With the addition of fresh ginger and turmeric, this is the ultimate refreshing detox smoothie that gives your body a boost of anti-inflammatory properties.
Turmeric contains curcumin, which has been touted to help with and prevent many different ailments that involve chronic inflammation including arthritis, heart disease, cancer and Alzheimer’s to name a few.
Curcumin is a fat soluble substance, meaning it breaks down and dissolves in fat. That is why I prefer to add coconut milk (instead of water or nut milk) to this smoothie, since coconut milk is an excellent source of healthy fat. The fresh pepper increases the bioavailability of the curcumin making this smoothie super nutritious.
